Everything is amazing. The one problem area is the Caf. The demand is there but not the supply. Half an hour before lunch finished there was no more sandwiches or Jacket potatoes. Every national trust place I went to before has never had this problem. Also there were at a guess about 30 people lining up for lunch half an hour before it stopped serving food. So it wasn't just me, there were more people coming at this time to have lunch. Everywhere else is perfect except this.
We really enjoyed the gardens and play area. The children enjoyed balancing and rolled wheels down the ramps. It is not as extensive as other National Trust gardens so more suitable for young families or those less able to walk far. The gardens themselves were pretty even in the winter and there was a nice view. There were toilets and cafe right by the play area. We managed to pick up some Christmas food that was reduced in price.
Really love this place, the gardens, flowers, outdoor games, tall trees, children's play area, cafe, picnic area and woodlands area. Really wonderful for letting kids be kids, for letting them explore nature, build structures from large branches, climb trees, run around and basically have an amazing time. My children are 3,5,8 and 9 at the time of writing and each one of them loved it. Even the youngest keeps asking to go back!
Best place for Bluebells in the spring. Extensive walks in surrounding hilly woodland. Picturesque rose garden and informal semi-wild areas. Good viewpoint over surrounding countryside.
Emmett garden is more than just a garden you also have beautiful woodland walks. The rose gardens perfume carried on the wind. The sun shone through the autumn leaves. The sound of a tractor in the field all this added up to a perfect country walk which ended at the tea rooms laid out as a stable. Yes we had a lovely couple of hours here
